INCREASING OF SHORT-STAY SCHENGEN VISA FEES

The European Commission has revised upwards the fees for short-stay Schengen visas and amended Article 16 of Regulation (EC) No 810/2009, paragraphs 1, 2 and 2a:

  • Applicants pay a visa fee of EUR 90.
  • Children aged 6 to under 12 pay a visa fee of EUR 45.

These new provisions are applicable from June 11th, 2024.

Nigerian citizens (or citizens of other citizenships residing in Nigeria) wishing to permanently or temporarily relocating to Malta for:

  • Employment with Maltese companies;
  • Studies at a Maltese Universities or schools or educational institutions;
  • Erasmus universities exchange programs;
  • Family reunion with Nigerian or Maltese or European Union Citizens.

Need to obtain a Maltese D visa: In order to obtain this Maltese D visa, the Maltese host (employer, university, school, family member, etc.) must contact the Maltese Central Visa Unit:

The Maltese host should obtain from the Central Visa Unit of Malta the approval for the applicants to apply through the nearest operational Maltese mission. Details about where, when and how to apply will be provided to applicants by the Central Visa Unit through their sponsor based in Malta.

The Consulate General of Italy in Lagos is not entitled to handle these applications. Applications wrongly submitted to the Consulate General of Italy will not be processed and returned to applicants.
